Amsterdam finally has a view

Amsterdam has just gained another top attraction: the A’DAM Tower, located behind Amsterdam’s Central Station, provides the city with a great lookout. With a 360-degree view over the historic buildings, an ‘Over the Edge’ swing, a cocktail bar and a fabulous restaurant, there are plenty of reasons to visit this new hotspot.

Initiator Sander Groet was on a trip around the world when he got the idea for the tower. “I was in Australia enjoying one of the many skydecks and thought: ‘Why doesn’t Amsterdam have one?’” Sander cut his world travels short by two months to return home and present his idea to the City of Amsterdam. The end result is the A’DAM Tower: a multi-functional lookout.

Lift experience

In this building even using the lift becomes an experience! After 25 seconds of some really cool LED light and sound effects, visitors find themselves on the top platform.

Singing in the parking lot

Music is the central theme of the A’DAM Tower. And it starts right in the parking garage where lines from famous lyrics decorate the walls. Visitors can guess to which song each line belongs. Every business in the tower has an affinity with music. Guitar manufacturer Gibson moved its marketing branch here, and ID&T and MassiveMusic have also set up their Amsterdam offices on site. The name of the tower is a play on words. A’DAM is not only a popular abbreviation for Amsterdam, but the letters also stand for Amsterdam Dance and Music.

The crowning glory: the Lookout

From the observation deck you look out over the canals, the historic town houses and the harbours of the Dutch capital: an unparalleled view of Amsterdam that’s even unfamiliar to many staunch Amsterdammers. A cool ‘lift experience’ with LED light and sound effects whisks visitors in 25 seconds to the viewing platform. The view from the roof is enhanced with interactive information pillars that provide details on the culture and history of Amsterdam. Would you like to peer over the edge? Hop on the gigantic ‘Over the Edge’ swing for a breathtaking view. Literally!

Dine with the city in the background

The revolving restaurant Moon sits on the 19th floor, where you can watch the city go by as you feast on culinary delights. One floor above you, you will find the panorama bar, appropriately named Ma’dam. This is the perfect setting to sip a drink with a view. And after 10 pm, the highest bar in Amsterdam transforms into the highest club in town with fabulous beats and the best DJs. Do you prefer something more ‘underground’? The basement of A’DAM houses night club Shelter where you can dance the night away.

Sleeping at Sir Adam

You don’t even have to leave the tower when it’s time to go to sleep. After a great dinner and a night on the dance floor, retreat to a stylish guest room at the luxury urban boutique hotel Sir Adam. The lobby on the ground floor also houses The Butcher Social Club: a restaurant with a patio on the river bank where non-hotel guests are also welcome 24/7. An inviting space for locals and visitors.
