White beaches and fresh fish

The Overseas Highway in Florida runs from Miami to the tip of Key West, connecting dozens of small islands. The 205-km route can be driven in one day and offers you pearly-white beaches and stunning vistas.

Along the road, you’ll find small towns with a laid-back atmosphere and great spots for a meal. Visit Islamorada, for example, a town with waving palm trees and wooden piers where the fishermen who went out in the morning will have returned in time to offer you fresh fish for lunch.

    Glaciers and grizzlies

To discover the Canadian wilderness in its purest form, drive the 230-km Icefields Parkway, which takes you through the heart of the Rocky Mountains and features emerald lakes, pristine valleys and gigantic glaciers on the way.

Located on the Icefields Parkway is Banff National Park (1885), Canada’s premier national park. It is the perfect place to stretch your legs as you admire the colourful fields of flowers and the spectacular Lake Louise where grizzlies and wolves come to quench their thirst.

    Cape coast

There is no better way to explore the Cape Peninsula in South Africa than by car. Via Chapman’s Peak Drive, or Chappies as the locals call it, you can take a nine kilometre drive along the stunning coastline and escape the everyday hustle and bustle of Cape Town.

Stop at the route’s highest point to enjoy a picnic or a stunning sunrise. After your descent, you’ll arrive in the picturesque fishermen’s town of Hout Bay, an excellent place to enjoy a meal overlooking the harbour.

      Wild waves and orcas

The Atlanterhavsveien (Atlantic Road) was chosen as the ‘best Norwegian construction’ of the century. The eight-kilometre road between Molde and Kristiansund was built above the rugged landscape and rough waters of the Atlantic Ocean, zigzagging over low bridges that seem to skim the waves connecting the various islands.

Along this short Atlantic route you’ll discover plenty of places to enjoy local nature. Take time out at one of the many parking spots to enjoy the fresh and salty air and, if you’re lucky, you’ll see an orca or a sea lion between the crests.
