“At times India is exactly what you would imagine, and then there are things that you just cannot fathom without seeing it firsthand. It was sensory overload in an amazing way!”
Neal Howland
Neal Howland is a professional filmmaker, based in Massachussetts in the United States. Together with his partner Thuy he makes his living as a full-time photo and video team. It was the India film that put him on the map as a solo filmmaker: “I have been hired to make similar works all over the world, but none of that would have been possible if I didn’t make the India film.” At the time Neal created the video just for fun: “It ended up being a roller coaster ride through my travel across greater Rajasthan.”
Neal and Thuy were warned multiple times beforehand to be careful and hide their camera gear, but once in India they did experience something totally different:
“We were in great hands all the time. From the rickshaw drivers to our tour guides, we were always so well taken care off. The genuine hospitality is truly unlike anything I have ever experienced.”
India forever holds a special place in Neal’s heart: “At times India is exactly what you would imagine, and then there are things that you just cannot fathom without seeing it firsthand. It was sensory overload in an amazing way!”
