Munda Biddi Trail, Australia

Eastern grey kangaroos and eucalyptus forests

The 1,000 kilometre long Munda Biddi Trail snakes through the bushland, river valleys and forests of southwestern Australia. It is the longest off-road bike route in the world. Starting in Mundaring just above Perth, the route ends in Albany. Riders will encounter a mix of sand trails and narrow winding single tracks with very few paved stretches. The highlight is a stretch through the impressive Jarrah Eucalyptus Forest, where you may even spot an Eastern grey kangaroo or a brushtail possum.

From the bucolic South to the rugged North

Take a 1,600 kilometre bike ride from the most southwestern corner of the country to the most northern tip: Land’s End to John O’Groats route is not for the faint-hearted. Of course there is the occasional rain shower or two… or three. But the magnificent scenery more than makes up for this slight (and wet) inconvenience. The route starts in the picturesque countryside of Cornwall, passes through Windermere in the Lake District, and continues upwards to the very tip of the spectacular Scottish Highlands. So don your rain gear and get ready to ride!

From Normandy to the Atlantic coast

France rarely disappoints and La Vélo route 43 only confirms this. This 617 kilometre bike ride leads you through the northwest of France. The route is divided into 24 legs beginning on the northern coast of Normandy in Ouistreham. La Route Verte, Canada

Top5 Cycle Routes 06 Canada Bg

A 5,000 kilometre bike ride through Canada

La Route Verte in Quebec features some of the best scenery that Canada has to offer. Meandering rivers, pine forest encircled lakes and cosmopolitan cities such as Montreal and Quebec, this 5,000 kilometre network of bike trails traverses the French-speaking province from east to west. One of the most beautiful stretches takes you through the Gaspésie. This peninsula with rocky outcrops, small villages and sweeping water views features some of the most breathtaking landscapes along the way.

Cycling across the water

The Shimanami Kaido is one-of-a-kind. Seven enormous suspension bridges connect the 6 Japanese islands in the deep blue Seto Inland Sea to each other and the mainland. The views from the bridges overlooking the hassaku (citrus trees) covered islands make beautiful Instagram-worthy photos.
