Experience the real Bangkok by bike

The idea of cycling in Bangkok may seem crazy due to the busy traffic, but it’s the best and most entertaining way to explore the city. Navigating the narrow streets, you’ll discover the real lives of Bangkok’s people as you bike past markets, golden temples and green plantations.

Charming Thonburi

The Thonburi district, once the capital of Thailand in the eighteenth century, is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Bangkok’s city centre. Explore narrow alleyways, bumpy roads and charming wooden houses.

Cycling in Thonburi is like taking a tour of the cultural diversity of Thailand. One minute you’re passing a Thai temple, covered in broken Chinese porcelain, then a few kilometres further you see a Catholic church with stained glass windows. If you’re lucky, you may even hear the angelic voice of a monk on his afternoon stroll.

Lively Chinatown

This neighbourhood in Bangkok is known as the most authentic Chinese district outside of China. And there’s no better way to explore these colourful and lively surroundings than by bike!

Cycling through narrow streets, you’ll suddenly find yourself in a street market with trinkets, flowers and herbs. The aromas of food rise from every corner; from the old woman frying fish in front of her home, to the butcher grilling pork on a spit. And yet, at the heart of all this activity, is the quiet of a Chinese altar.

Venice of the East

Nowhere in Bangkok are traditions so closely guarded as on the canals. Take your bike aboard a traditional ruea hang yao, or long-tail boat, and discover the unique Thai lifestyle on the water.

Merchants sell vegetables and fruit from their engine-free boats and women can be seen doing their daily laundry on the verandas of classic wooden houses. This is why Bangkok is also known as the ‘Venice of the East’.

Urban jungle

Take one of the countless alleys and bridges to leave the concrete jungle behind and enter the green oasis that is Bangkok’s plantations. Here you can cycle through a serene world that most tourists will never find.

Peddle by kilometre-long plantations of banana trees and lemongrass shrubs, while occasionally stopping to pick a papaya as a snack on the way. End your inner-city jungle tour with a visit to a coconut plantation.
